Rozatone’s Press Kit

27 09 2010

Rozatones Press Kit DVD Cover

The Rozatones have relocated to New York City and have been packing each venue they’ve preformed at. They have performed at big name spots like Sullivan Hall, the Canal Room, and The Bitter End and its looking like nothing can stop this force of soul & funk. The Rozatones have recently chosen Moving Box Studios to create their first press kit to send out to record labels and booking agents here in the big city. The Rozatones are no longer a small town band anymore after recently winning a Magic Hat sponsorship for their “Body on the Move” album release and tour. The group has since added two new members giving them a new, more powerful sound. The Rozatones are a unique band with a powerful sound and they chose Moving Box to help them illustrate that talent and professionalism and bring them one step closer to stardom.

Moving Box Work Featured on Ithaca Post

23 08 2010

Luke made his second video contribution to The Ithaca Post with a piece about Elisa Sciscioli, frontwoman for the local Ithaca band Solstice. You can find his piece on the Ithaca Post’s website by clicking here. It’s fascinating to hear her talk about her inner life of meditation and how it has helped her find her own voice and the strength to make the move to center stage after her career as a backup singer. For those not familiar with The Ithaca Post, it is a terrific source for music, art, and culture in Upstate New York and features a host of high-quality contributors. Be sure to check them out over at TheIthacaPost.com.

Dj CUT MAN @ OTAKON 2010

3 08 2010

Dj CUT MAN and MC DEATH BEAR at OTAKON 2010Big news for Moving Box’s own Chris & Christian ( aka Dj CUT MAN and MC DEATH BEAR ): This weekend they headed down to Baltimore, MD to attend OTAKON, the east coast’s largest Anime and Japanese Culture festival attending approximately 30,000 people. The convention is named after the Japanese word “Otaku” which is used to refer to people obsessed with Japanese animation (anime), Japanese comics (manga) or Video Games.

This was a big milestone for Dj CUT MAN, Chris’ project proudly sporting the tagline of “Video Game DJ,” as it was a live performance in front of thousands of Otakon goers. Dj CUT MAN played his new mix, DUBTROPOLIS (available soon on SoundCloud), a collection of Dub-Step influenced Chiptune songs. If none of those words make sense to you, here’s a song that exemplifies the musical style. MC Death Bear became a true Master of Cerimonies that night, hyping the crowd and providing vocal interludes and shout outs throughout the set.

MC Death Bear has been creating art for Dj CUT MAN for months, and is responbile for the killer flyers for the series of shows at Ithaca’s own Waffle Frolic. Dj CUT MAN has created three full-length mix albums so far and his fourth is expected in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for more.

Hey everyone! Moving Box is on its way up. You are now looking at the newest

long way since 2005, when Moving Box was just an idea. Now it’s 2010 and we
have a newly renovated studio, a great team of people working with us and a
fantastic group of local and national clients. Much love to everyone that has helped
and contributed along the way to get Moving Box where it is today. Cheers!

Dj CUTMAN Video Game DJ Set @ RETURN OF THE DEATH BEAR

8 02 2010

Moving Box audio engineer Chris Davidson AKA Dj CUTMAN performed his first DJ set @ RETURN OF THE DEATH BEAR last week. After discovering the pimp-awesome music site SoundCloud, Chris posted his set online for anyone to listen to it (this means you!) He mixes familiar game tunes  and covers with high quality arrangement and production. This isn’t an 8-bit orgy of square waves, all these tracks are all well-produced pieces of music. Chris says:

“I’m bringing something new to the table, only the best in video game remixes and chip-tune music. Remixes of classic game tunes have been being produced for a long time, but only a few tracks shine in the sea of mediocre renditions of super compositions. I’ve been collecting game music for over ten years, and with DJ Cutman I hope to showcase the best of the best of this awesome music

Art show tonight at Moving Box

18 12 2009

Hey everyone! So a lot of work has gone into getting this show ready. We have added a lot of functionality to the studio to properly display the amazing artwork that has been contributed to the show. We hope to see everyone there and know that it will be an amazing time. Come out and support the local artists of this town. Local band (Ayurveda) performing 2 live sets, local art from over 10 local artists (including myself who will be presenting a visual art piece for Ayurveda’s show), and your local studio (Moving Box Studios, Hazaa!) You get all this for only $10 . Pretty incredumalous if you ask me. We hope to keep doing more of these type of events. See you there! (BYOB)

Update 3/16/09

16 03 2009
Oh boo it’s Monday…

Wrong! I mean, it’s still Monday, but there’s nothing to “boo” about because there’s a new release out from Moving Box, and boy do you wanna watch it!

By now you’ve seen Tom Knight’s “The Elephant’s Lullaby,” and you know that it’s one of the cuter things online, up there with that sneezing baby panda. Now you can get a behind-the-scenes look at how the animation was created, by watching…

The Making of “The Elephant’s Lullaby”!

This featurette includes commentary from the team behind the animated video. With interesting and insightful words from Nutmeg Doherty (Executive Producer), Chris Davidson (Producer/Director), Wright Rickman (Production Designer/Lead Animator), Liz McLelland (Art Director), and Tom Knight (the Singer/Songwriter himself!), you’ll probably want to go back and watch the original animation with all of your newly-acquired appreciation.

In other news, Ithaca Tape to Disc is up and running. Check it out if you need your old video tapes converted to high-quality digital video.
Purgatory Pizza is in heavy production this week. Check back here soon for further details!
